Buttermilk Falls Trail

Standard

Saturday, 5/14, marked our first hike since the beloved Salkantay Trail in Peru.  It was also our first of many for the NY spring/summer/fall season of 2011.

We usually hike in Harriman State Park in NY, but Saturday brought us to NJ (yea yea, get it out of your system now) to do the Buttermilk Falls Loop.  It was about 5 miles and we gained 1,100 feet in vertical.

Overall, a great hike.  We had two pups with us and they did famously, even on the steep slippery portions of the trail.  And as the name would imply, we had a beautiful waterfall as our backdrop.

We stopped halfway near a huge lake for lunch and for Arion to take a dip (shocker!).

A big thanks to Scott for organizing and just being awesome (far left).

And a love shout-out to my hubs, who is my most favorite hiking buddy 🙂

xoxo
